#Kader4House Blog

In the coming weeks, we’re going to be knocking on doors, making phone calls, hosting events, and spending a lot of time engaging with our community, listening to our neighbors’ stories, and building a platform truly reflective of the needs and hopes of the people around us. We’ll use this blog as a chance to connect with you, share some of the laughs and struggles, and keep you posted on where things go next.

Be sure to check out the announcement for the campaign kick-off below! We’ve got some exciting activities in store (not to mention some delicious food), and are really looking forward to hearing from everyone on priorities, ideas, and general thoughts.

MN Caucuses Feb 6

2018 is going to be a big year for elections in Minnesota, and the election season really begins with caucuses on February 6th. Caucuses are where delegates for state party endorsing conventions are chosen, and they’re an important step in getting issues you care about advanced to party platforms. They’re also a great chance to reconnect with neighbors, meet new people, and build community.

If you haven’t caucused before, or want a refresher on how they work, there are several fantastic trainings coming up in the next couple weeks. A few options are listed below.

December 30, 1:30-3:30pm, Edina

January 4, 5:30-8:30pm, Minneapolis

January 11, 7:00-9:00pm, Cottage Grove

If you have questions about the caucus process, feel free to comment below or send me a message. See you all on February 6th!

Let’s Do This!

Friends & Neighbors,

I am very excited to announce my candidacy to become your next State Representative for House District 62A. My motivation to run is simple: I am inspired by hope and driven by the notion that we can change the world around us, especially when we work together.

I see the challenges our community faces – but I am not satisfied in just recognizing these challenges. We need to look for opportunities to overcome them and make real change happen. Throughout my professional and personal life, I have worked with people across the state and across the political spectrum to form coalitions, build on opportunities, and channel frustration into positive actions that transform systems. I’ve sought out the voices of those who don’t feel heard in order to make sure the change that comes to our communities comes from within the community.

I convene people. This is more than what I do, it is who I am.

In a time when politics is especially divisive, it is more important than ever to have a legislator that can convene diverse viewpoints, find common ground, and chart a path forward. I use these skills every day, and would be honored to use them as your Representative.

I’ll be the first to say that I do not have all the answers in this race. I intend to spend a lot of time in the early days of this campaign listening, asking questions, and making sure that the platform I put forward truly is reflective of the interests and needs of this community. This is an approach that I will take not only as a candidate, but as your elected representative as well.

To my fellow candidates, I want to say that I am incredibly excited to run in this race with you. You are intelligent, you are caring, and I know you are deeply devoted to working on behalf of the constituents in this community. I look forward to the conversations that we’re going to have together and the amount that we’ll grow as a group during this campaign season.
